As we continue to celebrate National Book Month, Barnes & Noble offers recommended books for children, with the ability to shop by age or series. When children are taught how fundamental reading is to their overall development and are disciplined enough to pick up a good book to read on their own, that is one habit that will stick with them for the rest of their lives. There is absolutely no reason why a child should be in a state of illiteracy in this country, where there are so many options and resources available.
If someone is unable to purchase books, then the public library is a good place to start. Book swapping events, yard sales and flea markets are also good places to pick up books very reasonably. These are also great ways to recycle to keep used books out of our landfills.
Start building a library in your home today! Do it for yourself and your children. Good reading!
