Being a native of Charleston, South Carolina, rice was always a staple in our household. It served as our basic food group on most of our menu items. Yet, there are countless ways to prepare rice dishes, and I never tire of it. Rice in our household could not be sticky, mushy or with broken kernels. Although I like red rice, a Lowcountry version of the Spanish rice I’m used to eating, I found a Spanish Rice with Clams recipe on the Food Network that looks yummy and is one version I have never eaten before.

Today, on Food Porn Friday, I am honoring National Rice Month, which is celebrated annually in September. Whether you like white rice, brown rice Basmati rice, Saffron Rice or Jasmine rice, whip up your favorite dish as we celebrate this popular grain served in practically every culture around the globe.

Happy #FoodPornFriday!
