Today is the post-election day in the United States and I think everyone is relieved that what seemed to be an endless campaign is finally over! Regardless of who you voted for, I am truly grateful to live in a country where we have the freedom and voice of a democracy and not a dictatorship.
This has indeed been an unprecedented, contentious race on state and national levels. Now that the results are in, however, it is my prayer that we can move forward and reacquaint ourselves with our humanity, dignity, civility, unity, common decency, and Godliness. We are citizens of the United States of America and embody a rich tapestry of races, creeds, and cultures. Our leaders have been elected throughout the country and the weight is on their shoulders to strengthen, not weaken our nation that is already great in the eyes of the world.
“Life is never easy. There is work to be done and obligations to be met – obligations to truth, to justice and to liberty.” -President John F. Kennedy, 35th President
“And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” -President Ronald W. Reagan, 40th President
