Book Bars: Read, Drink and Be Merry

The Bookshop Bar on Sukhumvit 38, Bangkok Bookstore Bar, Bookstore Bar

Although The Bookshop Bar on Sukhumvit 38 in Bangkok as shown is no longer in operation, the concept of this bookstore bar is absolutely artistic, whimsical and fabulous! Image source:

Even though many literary critics want to continue proclaiming that the traditional enjoyment of reading books, particularly hardcover or paperback books is passé, we are finding some amazing bars where people not only like to drink their favorite spirits but who also love to read. By combining these different forms of entertainment, socializing and/or relaxation, there are some fine establishments whose bartenders are mixing more than cocktails behind the bar.

Do you have a favorite watering hole or literary pub that integrates bookworms with bartenders? Tell us the name of your book bar and where it is located. Here are a few I found which received some very good reviews.
