It’s National Tater Day on Food Porn Friday

Today is Food Porn Friday and we are celebrating the good ole potato. National Tater Day is observed annually on March 31. Tater Day started way back in the early 1840s with the trading and selling of sweet potatoes. It is the oldest continuous trade day in the United States.

According to the International Potato Center, there are more than 4,000 varieties of native potatoes, mostly found in the Andes. There are also over 180 wild potato species, although too bitter to eat, their important biodiversity includes natural resistances to pests, diseases, and climatic conditions.

Here’s an easy yummy recipe, Cheesy Bacon-Tater Tot Pie recipe, courtesy of the Food Network Kitchen that takes only 45 minutes to prepare and serves 8. All you need are a few simple ingredients.

Happy #NationalTaterDay on #FoodPornFriday
