Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world, are things we can’t see. – The Polar Express
What do we believe in? Do we accept that whatever we believe in is true? Do our eyes deceive us when we visualize something we want to believe in? Is it just a mirage of reality?
“You can believe something really hard, and still be wrong.” – Jodi Picoult
“Whether you believe you can or not you’re right.” -Henry Ford
Sometimes, these days, it seems like many believe more in make-believe over what is real, and true. Believing is something we feel deeply about, that addresses what our gut says to our heart and brain. If we witness something but deny its existence, is this believable? Yet, far too often we believe hogwash that we know is not true.
“You are what you believe yourself to be.” – Paulo Coelho
“You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life and death to you.” – C.S. Lewis
If we witness something but deny its existence, is this believable? To believe, is it wishful thinking that gives us hope? Do you believe in yourself?
(This clip is from the 1978 movie “The Wiz.” I love the legendary Lena Horne, and I love her rendition of “If You Believe” in the movie)
You’re not pretty enough. You’re not tall enough. You’re not strong enough. You’re not smart enough. You’re not rich enough. You’re not handsome enough. You’re not successful enough. You’re not, you’re not, you’re not…
Then what are you or who are you supposed to be? You may not be able to do a lot of things, but those things should not be on your radar to deter you from them if they are meant for you. What can you do, where you are, using what you have? You don’t have to achieve fame or celebrity status to be seen or to make a positive difference in the world. I’ve posed such questions to myself, especially when I know what is possible but may become discouraged for some reason or another, even if it is of my own doing (like busyness and being distracted).
I have used and continue to use the negativity others may think about me or spew at me by turning it into my personal asset. And if you don’t have something like sufficient education, training, specific skillsets, or collaborating with others, well then, find a way to get what you need (legally of course). Whatever people say to try to cut you down or discourage you by telling you what you’re not, or refuse to point you in the direction where you can grow, then simply take a deep breath and show them what and who you are, where you are. You are your choice!
People with determination are those who get up and keep going, who learn from what went wrong and adjust course, and who believe in themselves despite all obstacles. -Unknown
Sometimes it feels like you are so exhausted and have given out of gas as soon as you fill up. We are constantly reminded that despair is always there, and despair is everywhere. Yet, do not allow unnecessary despair to occupy your mind, or commandeer your chair. If this happens, it could block you from your goals, by incarcerating your mind, and you might want to give up. We may fall down, but we can’t stay down, so we get back up anyway.
Determination is defined as” the ability to keep trying”, and to keep moving towards a goal, no matter what. -Anonymous
We may get sidetracked on some days when our confidence is low, and our energy level and positivity are running on empty. Don’t sweat it because everyone has that kind of day, and sometimes it sneaks up on you like a thief in the middle of the night. Today is a new day, so refuse to bring old problems into it that will taint it. Stay strong because your possibilities are endless! Make today an illustrious day! 🌞
At times, it almost feels like life is depicted as a horror movie in realtime, and many of the characters and villains portrayed are people we personally know. While so many of us have felt dismayed from what seems like a portal that was pried open, we see a mass of craziness, mayhem, and uncut evil oozing out and terrorizing us. Through it all, however, it appears that mobilization of humanity is intensifying and peeling away the scales from our eyes to see things clearer, brighter, and more optimistic. Believe it or not.
