If you work, especially in an office environment, you can relate to the quirky, funny comics that mock some of the most idiotic management methods which make you question their level of experience, competency, and education for their respective positions. I recently finished reading The Dilbert Principle by Scott Adams, that was sitting on my bookshelf since 1997. This book was copywritten in 1996 and the flaws evident in workplace environments back then are just as relevant now, and that is a scary thing to think about.
I took the Goodreads Reading Challenge a few years ago to commit to reading more books, especially the ones already crowding the shelves in my office and storage spaces, before they become fossilized. 🙂 Yet, after I finally finished reading this book by Scott Adams, it makes you wonder if it was really worth it to get that MBA after all.
Incompetent bosses, management fads, and bewildering technological changes are some of the components that leave you scratching your head. You have to wonder how long we will validate looney and idiotic decision makers after you laugh at the insanity we put up with as depicted in the Dilbert comic series.
When i worked as a teacher for the handicapped, the superintendent would make “corrections” to my annual reviews… and when i corrected them, sometimes would change and re-revise them back to what they were in the first place!
