After completing my maternal genealogy tracing, I found historical evidence of cardiovascular disease that resulted in the deaths of some of my family members. Since this is a health concern, especially among the women in our family, we try to take the necessary precautions to learn more and how to be proactive in making smart “heart health” decisions.

Today we celebrate National Wear Red Day by wearing the color red in order to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease in women and to save lives. As part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement, Wear Red Day focuses the nation’s attention on heart disease, the number one killer of women in America.

Visit GoRedForWomen.org to learn more about cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. Now, go out and share this vital information that so many women and their families need to be educated on in order to fight back against this deadly disease.
