Samuel George Davis Jr. (December 8, 1925 – May 16, 1990) was an American singer, actor, comedian and dancer. He was part of The Rat Pack, an informal group of entertainers who ultimately made films and appeared together in Las Vegas casino venues.  In the 1960s, the group featured Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, and (before falling out with Sinatra in 1962) Peter Lawford, among others.

  25. odd, I just watched that…but Davis jr, such an awful story though right…when he played Vegas with the Rat Pack, he wasn’t allowed to eat or stay with the rest…he was a veteran even….but, I love that part of the Playboy/Hefner story..even though told that if he had black performers mixing with whites, that show (I think it was Playboy After Dark) would not be aired in the southern states…he stuck to his guns

    Also, I love Sammy Davis Jr. Every year, he would perform and donate so much time to our annual Telethon fund raiser for disadvantaged kids. Big international star giving love to our little city. Big heart. Huge respect for him.
